Circle Time & Messy Play – Exploring Muddy PuddlesMessy play weekAfter the heavy rain on Friday, the children gathered at circle time to talk about the weather and how the rain changes our outdoor environment. We then read Peppa’s Biggest Muddy Puddle, which sparked lots of excitement and curiosity. To extend the story, we created our own large “muddy puddle” as part of a messy play activity. The children helped with every step, eagerly mixing the materials and exploring the changing textures. As they played, they shared their thoughts and reactions:“We have to mix it up!”“I love getting my hands muddy – look at me!”“Yuck!”“It smells like chocolate.”“Squishy!”“I can’t see my fingers!”The children showed enthusiasm, imagination, and confidence as they engaged in sensory exploration. They demonstrated language development through descriptive vocabulary, as well as physical skills while mixing, patting, and squishing the mud. The activity encouraged creativity, curiosity, and lots of joyful learning.
