We have had lots of fun in Daisy room today, exploring lots of different textures using our feet. We have been focusing on the bear hunt story this week as the children really enjoy this book at story time. I set up a variety of trays, with shredded paper for the grass, pipe cleaners and lollipop sticks for the forest, cotton wool for the snow storm, chocolate mousse for the mud and water for the river. Although we had to mix the sequence up a little compared to the story, the children explored each tray in turn as we used words such as ‘swishy swashy’ and ‘squelch squerch’ as they walked through. Some children weren’t too keen to get their feet into the messy trays such as the mud but enjoyed watching as their friends had a turn.
